aloha!!!!
hey guys!!! we're here, we're finally here!!! yesterday was a LONG day, but we finally made it in about 8:30 hawaiian time last night. anita picked us up at the airport and greeted us with beautiful leis and then we came back to her house for some quick dinner and to change clothes before going over to her friends' house to celebrate new year's eve. interesting hawaiian tradition...lots and lots of fireworks on new year's!!! it was so loud and so fun!!! apparantly it is a chinese tradition to ring in the new year with 1000 fireworks to scare away the bad spirits---doug and i weren't sure if it was fourth of july or new year's. :) we are going to drive around some today and anita is going to show us some of the beaches on the north side of the island and i think we are going to hike something that i can't remember the name of, but it sounded really neat. the weather is being a little tricky this morning so it could interfere with our plans, but it is supposed to clear up later today. we love you all and hope everyone had a great new year's and we will try to call when we can.

OOOOOH I am so jealous! Are you hiking Diamond Head? Make sure you go snorkeling in Waimea Bay (not sure if I spelled that right) and stop at one of those little shrimp trucks on the side of the road on the north side of the island. YUM! We ate at some little famous burger joint on the North Shore too. Very good. Post some pictures when you can. We want to be even more jealous. Have fun!
